To capture a common cliché at the moment “we are in challenging times”.
At an FFIA Committee meeting last Tuesday, as free travel between all states is not possible, we reluctantly decided to cancel the proposed National Championship at Lake Macquarie YC. We are in discussions with LMYC as to if they can hold an LMYC hosted event instead. They think it may be a little later than the early January scheduled for the Nationals. Once LMYC have a proposal we will advise you.
On the brighter side this coming weekend we have the ACT State Championship on Lake Burley Griffin.
On 21-22 November the Queensland State Titles will be sailed at Tin Can Bay, if the Qld/NSW border is open by then some of the LMYC crew will be attending and Gary Richardson will be visiting from Darwin.
2 – 4 January 2021 there will be a Regatta at Clayton Bay Boat Club, on the Murray estuary, There is a flyer for this event.
For those in the West, SoPYC is celebrating its 75th anniversary with racing for Flying Fifteens between 9 -14 January 2021. You can go to the NOR here.
So all except Victorians can plan some summer sailing.
The FFIA AGM is normally held at the Nationals, so this year we will have to hold a virtual AGM. Probably after the January holiday season. We will send you details when we have worked out which platform to use , etc.
