A heavy overcast sky greeted the 35 strong fleet for the 54th Australian Flying Fifteen Championship held on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra.

The first race was won by Matt Owen & Andrew Reed in Deffcon1 (3684) who started at the boat end and led at the first mark in variable shifting light 8 knot SE wind. Sue Thompson and Cam Taylor in Never Say Die (4007) and Nicole & Tracey Magyar jostled for second & third places, with Never Say Die prevailing.

The second race saw a stronger more consistent SE breeze, which around the middle shifted about 20 degrees. Deffcon1 again led from the first mark to finish. Craig Davidson & Robin Malpas in Super Snabb(3657) strongly to finish ahead of Aussie Falcon (Dale Collings & Warren Slater).

Race 3 started in very overcast conditions in an 8 knot NE breeze. The fleet split into 2 groups to the first mark, the right side being favoured with 4007 being first at the top mark, followed by 4006, 3972 (Sake – Ashley Smith & Adam Kingston). Defcon1 was a fair way back, but sailed a superb downwind leg to lead at the gate mark.
The wind lightened on the second work and Defcon1 led at the top mark and maintained the lead to the shortened course finish, followed by Super Snabb and and Where the Bloody Hell are You (Rainey boys)third.A trying race for all competitors.
