A total fleet of 93 dinghies competed in the ACT Dinghy championship on the weekend of 9-10 November 2024. Five Flying 15s contested the ACT Flying 15 championship as part of the regatta. Four races were completed on the Saturday afternoon, sailed in variable and generally light winds, and one on the Sunday, again in light winds, but giving the option of a drop in calculating the results. The series was won by the Raineys (with two wins, and two seconds, Bruce Mclennan (CYC) was second, with two wins, a second and a third, and Simon Walsh, skipping for Mark Holmes (LMYC), was third.

A check of the records show that the Raineys have been visiting Canberra for more that 30 years, winning the Australian championship in January 1996, and winning the ACT championship this year for the sixth time plus another for Craig last year sailing Mark Holmes’ boat. And I discovered that Mark Holmes sailed in the Australian championship in Canberra in 1982, sail no. 1675, Mullet.  He has won the ACT championship twice in recent years and a third time in his boat, crewing for Craig Rainey.
